We’re delighted that our contractors – James Swinton & Co Ltd of Hawick – have completed the picket fencing that now flanks The Station House. The fence extends from both ends of the building as it faces Platform 2, and also encloses an outdoor seating area that is directly accessed from the eatery.
We think this beautifully finishes off The Station House and is a vast improvement to the setting of the historic building – the timber picket fence replaces wire mesh fencing installed when the station reopened in 2015. We also think this makes it the best-looking station on the reopened Borders Railway!
These works were generously funded by the Railway Heritage Trust – our thanks to them and for the hard work of the contractors.
