Last month the Trust held it’s Annual General Meeting. Below is a summary of the key highlights:
Jemma Reid, MBTAG, was our guest speaker at the AGM. Jemma’s message to the audience was that the Borders Tourism Strategy is ambitious and aims to make the borders a destination for tourists rather than a place that they pass through. Stow now needs to come together and shape how it wants to take advantage of this opportunity for the benefit of the community and the local economy.
New Articles of Association were adopted. They update the previous articles and bring them into line with recent legislative changes. The new articles reflect SCT’s wider ambitions as a local development trust.
The Board achieved its original funding target earlier this year. However after our tendering exercise for a builder, we were left with a funding gap. The Board is working hard to close the gap and are confident that they can do so. Once this is resolved we will be able to get on with the building work.
Thanks to Nigel Millar for donating lease of site for additional car parking spaces. Also grateful to both Network rail and Scotrail for waiving their oversight costs for the building work.
A number of community members have indicated their interest in joining the board. We will be arranging an induction session for them shortly. Next year is going to be a busy one. We’re going to be needing lots of support.
We are also pleased to be able to release our 2018 / 2019 annual report, which can be accessed here:
